TUTORS

A-List tutors have at least a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years teaching and/or tutoring experience. Our tutors are full of energy and a zest for learning. They truly LOVE teaching, especially tutoring, because working with students one-on-one is an incredibly rewarding experience. Teachers can see results up close, and often those results happen more quickly than expected.

Let’s hear what a few of our tutors have to say about themselves and The A-List:

Alice

Alice Cutler graduated from Vassar College. She has been tutoring here in Los Angeles for the past twelve years, working with a range of students with different skill and grade levels. . In addition, she has done group tutoring with pods and led several book clubs for elementary school students. She is also a volunteer both with Young Storytellers Foundation, helping elementary school students to write screenplays, as well as with Love on 4 Paws, where she visits the children's hospital with her therapy dog. When she is not tutoring, Alice is screenwriting, doing stand-up comedy, and acting.

Joey

One of those strange individuals who genuinely enjoys numbers, Joey acquired a love for teaching while tutoring many of KU’s athletes in math and science. Joey takes pride in giving his students the confidence to establish and meet their own academic goals.Joey graduated with Honors from the University of Kansas with a degree in Finance and a Chemistry concentration. During his undergraduate tenure, Joey had the opportunity to direct and write a musical, coordinate a homecoming parade, and study abroad at the Asian School of Business in Trivandrum, India. He understands that every student has his or her own unique way of learning, and he loves helping them find and utilize their own strategies to find academic success.

Lizzie

Originally from San Diego, Lizzie received her B.S. from Penn State University in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She went on to get her M.A. in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Ball State University. Lizzie has worked in both school and clinical settings. In her spare time, she loves reading, walking, and going to the beach. And here’s a fun fact – Lizzie is a twin!

Rohan

I recently graduated from Cum Laude from UCLA with a B.S. in Psychobiology. I am currently pursuing a medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. When I’m not in class or doing research, I enjoy tutoring students in all levels of chemistry and biology. And when I have free time (which is somewhat rare!), I love to ski, surf and travel!

Mercedez

My name is Mercedez and I have been a Math and Biology tutor with A-List for almost 3 years. I graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay with an Environmental Science, Technology and Policy degree with a minor in Mathematics. During my time there, I was a Math tutor for 4 years and participated in various scientific research projects. On my free time I love to read books, go on local hikes, or re-watch my fav shows like Ted Lasso. Fun Fact is that I've passed about 15 escape rooms; “Lab Rat” at Hatch Escapes is one of the most well produced rooms I’ve been to!

Carina

My name is Carina and I attended Duke University where I studied Civil Engineering and Architecture. Since I graduated, I have been working as a Marine Structural engineer. I absolutely love teaching and tutoring math, which is my specialty! When I am not working, I enjoy exploring NYC, skiing, and spending time with my friends and family.

Daisy

Daisy graduated from Syracuse University with a major in psychology and a minor in cognitive science with a concentration in neuroscience. She has a diverse background in education having worked as an ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) specialist – an experience that has informed her love of teaching neurodivergent learners. But her talents don’t stop there! She has traveled to seventeen countries and speaks English, Spanish, Italian AND Mandarin!

Arielle

I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from USC with a BA from Dornsife in Narrative Studies and a songwriting minor from Thornton. In addition to tutoring, I am a singer-songwriter, and have been releasing music and performing around LA, San Diego and New York as R E L since 2015. I also recently finished a children's book that is being illustrated now. My hobbies include playing guitar, hiking, traveling, singing (of course), dancing, going to concerts and art museums, reading, yoga and writing poetry.

Fun facts: I'm a lefty; I grew up in Chicago until I was 12; I have 2 dogs, and I’m half-Dutch!

Robert

I’ve been tutoring since arriving in Los Angeles almost (gulp) 20 years ago, preparing students for midterms, finals, and standardized tests including the SAT, the ACT, the ISEE and the HSPT. I graduated from American University with honors with a degree in print journalism and a minor in government, but I also took Calculus my junior year of high school and enjoy using both sides of the brain. When not talking students through “The Great Gatsby” or triangles, I can be found on a soccer field, at a concert, or on the road, writing for several publications.
